Enjoy Farm-to-Table Cuisine with Camana Bay and the UK’s Most Acclaimed Female Chef this Slow Food Day

Visitors and residents of Cayman will have the unique opportunity this Slow Food Day, Saturday, 8 April, to enjoy top-quality farm-to-table cuisine produced by chefs from across Cayman and guest chef Clare Smyth, MBE, the UK’s most acclaimed female chef.

Beginning with a farm-to-table tasting market from 10am to 12pm, which is free for anyone to attend, Slow Food Day will see local growers provide chefs from Cayman’s restaurants with fresh local produce that they will use to create delicious home-grown dishes for guests to sample. Watch live chef demonstrations as you go from stall to stall to sample the delicacies, all laid out on The Crescent in Camana Bay.

Chef Clare Smyth, MBE, and Abacus head chef Will O’Hara will be pairing up to prepare the Slow Food Day Harvest Dinner at Abacus restaurant. Chef Clare – the United Kingdom’s most acclaimed female chef, having retained three Michelin stars in London – is in Cayman for a series of pop-up events between 7-13 April.

Budding chefs aged eight to 12 can sign up for the Food Revolution Kids’ Seed2Plate Workshop from 12:30pm to 2pm in Gardenia Court, which will see young chefs take part in an interactive session led by Cayman Food Revolution Ambassador Maureen Cubbon. Participants will learn how to plant their own seedlings to grow food that they can then cook with and create fresh meals that will inspire and encourage them to eat local.

The day will cap off with a one-night-only experience with the Harvest Dinner at 7pm at Abacus restaurant. Abacus’ head chef Will O’Hara – a major advocate of the farm-to-table movement in Cayman and a chef who is known for working closely with local fishermen and farmers – will work alongside guest chef Clare Smyth to produce a multi-course flavour experience unlike any other. Chef Clare is the only female chef to retain three Michelin stars in London, England, and is in Cayman for a series of ‘pop-ups in Paradise’ with Slow Food Day’s Harvest Dinner and multiple events at Kimpton Seafire Resort + Spa from 7 to 14 April.
