With the Sailrock Resort set to open this fall, activity on South Caicos, one of the smaller islands in the Turks and Caicos, has been ramping up. Once known for being the largest exporter of salt in the Turks and Caicos Islands, South Caicos, anchored by the town of Cockburn Harbour on its southwest coast, now subsists as a small-scale commercial fishing community—albeit one with a rich history. For decades, the island has managed to stay out of the spotlight and avoid the commercial tourism industry, allowing its natural wonders, both on land and at sea, to remain largely untouched.
Sailrock began as a master-planned, low-density community that was carefully developed in order to preserve the natural beauty South Caicos has to offer, while still maintaining an authentic Caribbean experience found in the Turks and Caicos. Sailrock Living, the real estate arm of the development, encompasses several neighborhoods offering ownership opportunities in Bell Sound on the Caicos Bank, the Peninsula to the north, and Sailrock Resort just south of the Peninsula. Although Sailrock Resort offers ownership opportunities, Sailrock Resort operates as the pinnacle of Sailrock, sharing South Caicos with the world. Most will experience it as an exclusive, boutique hotel to enjoy the jaw-dropping views, infinity-edge pools, impeccable finishes and conveniences, as well as luxurious amenities in both the Ridgetop Suites and Beachfront Villas.
Set on the peninsula portion of the island, Sailrock Resort is anchored by the Great House, a 6,000+ square foot social hub and gathering place for both guests of the resort as well as Sailrock Living. Offering amenities including a sunset bar, infinity-edge pool, fresh market, and gourmet restaurant with a progressive take on local Caribbean cuisine, the Great House is ideally perched atop a series of bluffs, allowing panoramic sunrise views of the Atlantic Ocean to the east as well as sunset views over the Caicos Bank to the west.
With a variety of accommodation offerings with convenient beach access for guests, you’ll be sure to find the perfect fit for you and your travel companions at Sailrock Resort. Guests can choose to take in panoramic ocean views from the wrap-around terraces of the Ridgetop Suites with floorplans ranging from suites up to two bedrooms, all with breathtaking views. For additional space and privacy, private Beachfront Villas are also available.
Staying at Sailrock Resort opens the door for countless adventures in South Caicos, both on land and at sea, many of which are complementary to resort guests. Spend the day out on the water, whether whale-watching, snorkeling, paddle boarding, or sailing. For those interested in more adventure, Sailrock works with local partners to arrange excursions ranging from scuba diving trips to kite boarding in the open water, kayaking or paddle boarding on the Caicos Bank to biking, hiking and deep-sea fishing.
