Camana Bay on Grand Cayman

At Camana Bay on Grand Cayman, summer has always been synonymous with family. Usually while on vacation parents choose to enroll their children in expensive supervised activities or attempt a one-size-fits-all itinerary of experiences that they hope will satisfy every age, but Camana Bay, a 600-acre mixed-use development located between Seven Mile Beach and the North Sound, offers several activities that are sure to please the entire family.

This summer, visitors can take advantage of a limited-time complimentary gift card, which offers visitors $10 to use at any of Camana Bay’s signature restaurants, perfect for exploring local Caymanian cuisine or enjoying a favorite (pizza, anyone?). Visitors can watch the depths of the Caribbean sea unfold in mosaic form with a stroll down the Observation Tower’s 75-foot helix staircase, the top of which offers a 360-degree view of the island. Splash around in one of Camana Bay’s signature fountains and, on select days of the week, enjoy Imagination Playground, a changing array of elements that allow guests to create their own unique play experience. From June through August, Camana Bay’s popular Moonlight & Movies will showcase family-friendly features.

For families who desire a cultural experience, they can stroll through the weekly Farmers and Artisans market on Wednesdays, where vendors sell local produce, jewelry, jellies, gifts, crafts and more. Beginning at 3 p.m., the market is infused with entertainment, ranging from live music to cultural demonstrations of thatch weaving, rope making, conch blowing, soldier crab racing and traditional games.

For parents wanting some alone time to explore the island, Starfish Village at Camana Bay offers supervision for children ages 3 to 12 in time blocks throughout the day. Special camps will run throughout summer that will keep children excited and engaged while teaching a range of skills and activities. Topics include: All Things Lego; Young Chefs; Cayman Culture; Dance and Movement; Creative Minds; Athletes in Training; Pampered Princess and Adventurous Pirates; and Ocean Around Us. Rates range from $80 for a full day (8 a.m. to 3 p.m.) to $325 for the week. For full details and to pre-register, contact Starfish Village at 345.640.7827 or info@starfish.ky, or visit their website.
