U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS (August 20, 2014) – Local U.S. Virgin Islands tourism stakeholders attending next month’s highly anticipated Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) State of the Industry Conference (SOTIC) can do so at a huge discount.

The USVI Department of Tourism announced the local rates following discussions with the CTO and the USVI Hotel and Tourism Association where agreement was reached to discount local registration fees. Thanks to the agreement, local delegates can now attend the September 17 to 19 event for a total of $250 for both days or $150 each day.

Registration for CTO government members is $845 per delegate, $945 for allied members, and $1,295 for non-members.

Caribbean and global tourism leaders will gather at the Marriott Frenchman’s Reef and Morning Star Beach Resort to discuss and devise strategies to position Caribbean tourism for the rapidly changing tourism landscape.

“We would like to thank the CTO for making SOTIC registration fees affordable for our local delegates,” said USVI Tourism Commissioner Beverly Nicholson-Doty whose two-year term as Chairman of the CTO comes to an end at the conference next month.

Each delegate is required to complete and submit a registration form with the applicable registration fee.

The form can be retrieved at:

The registration fee covers all business sessions, programmed meals, social events and a conference kit. One day registration includes all activities on the program for the applicable day and a conference program.

SOTIC will bring together speakers of local, regional, national and international acclaim from various fields linked to tourism to provide best practices and winning strategies on a wide range of issues that impact the region’s bread and butter industry.

The conference theme, “Realizing the Vision: Positioning Caribbean Tourism for Major Change”, complements the CTO’s vision for Caribbean tourism which aims to position the region as the most desirable, year round, warm weather destination.
