DEPARTMENT OF TOURISM LAUNCHES SPECIAL PROMOTION FOR TRAVEL AGENTS

~ Sea Blue, See Green Promotion offers agents more than $500 in savings on their USVI Getaway ~

U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS, August 29, 2012 – The Department of Tourism has launched the Sea Blue, See Green Promotion, offering travel agents across the U.S. an opportunity to save more than $500 on their hotel stay, activities and meals when they visit the Territory.

Agents who book the Sea Blue, See Green Promotion on St. Croix, St. John or St. Thomas receive 50 percent off the nightly room rate at participating hotels and a welcome bag filled with bonus items, including $150 in certificates for activities, dining and shopping. The offer is available September 1 – 30, 2012, for travel to the Territory between September 4 and October 31, 2012. A minimum 3-night stay is required and travelers must book using the code “AGENT50.”

The DOT developed the offer with the intention of keeping the USVI top-of-mind among travel agents booking vacations for their clients this fall and winter. The promotion also coincides with JetBlue’s Fall Travel Agent Promotion, which gives accredited agents the opportunity to save 50 percent on flights for themselves and a guest.  Agents who book their flights through JetBlue’s promotion by September 15, 2012, receive 50 percent off flights booked for departure and return between September 4 and October 31, 2012.

“We want travel agents to have the opportunity to reconnect with the U.S. Virgin Islands and explore what’s new across our islands ahead of the busy holiday travel season,” said Tourism Commissioner Beverly Nicholson-Doty. “We strategically timed our promotion around JetBlue’s offer to maximize savings for the travel agent community and incentivize them to visit the Territory over competing destinations.”

Hotels participating in the Sea Blue, See Green Promotion include: The Buccaneer, Divi Carina Bay, Hotel Caravelle, Sand Castle on the Beach and The Palms at Pelican Cove on St. Croix; Gallows Point Resort and The Westin Resort on St. John; Bolongo Bay Beach Resort, Point Pleasant Resort, Windward Passage Hotel and Sugar Bay Resort & Spa on St. Thomas.
