“Gotta Eat Them To Beat Them”.
3rd Annual Lionfish Challenge at De Palm Island.

The 3rd Annual Lionfish Challenge at De Palm Island organized by De Palm Tours in conjunction with Aruba Marine Park Foundation will take place on Sunday December the 7th 2014. There will be Lionfish information sessions, live demonstrations of the anatomy of a Lionfish, free advice from health consultants, live music and delicious Lionfish tastings. Come and experience what we do to eliminate Lionfish in Aruba.

As a major island-wide issue at the moment, these creatures are invading Aruba’s coral reefs and their presence is upsetting the ecological balance of the marine ecosystems worldwide. Consequently, Aruba’s tourism and fishing industries suffer substantially from this as well. Campaigns and cooperation strategies have been setup throughout the Caribbean to try and respond to this grave problem that the Lionfish have posed, which is why De Palm Tours is taking action against the invasion. The main goal of this challenge is to promote joint efforts in bringing awareness to the current Lionfish problem that continues to pose a major threat to the marine life around Aruba and to teach about the positive sides of eating the Lionfish.

Visit De Palm Island this Sunday December 7 and aside from the all-inclusive offerings at De Palm Island, like the unlimited banana boat rides, all-you-can-eat food and drink, snorkel tours, free salsa lesson and water park entry, there will also be Lionfish information sessions, live demonstrations of the anatomy of a Lionfish, free advice from health consultants, live music and delicious Lionfish tastings prepared by Head Chef of Screaming Eagle, Erwin Husken.

Divers can sign in as a Lionfish Hunter at Hadicurari Centro di Pesca (next to Moomba) for free until Wednesday December 3rd. There will be attractive prizes for different categories such as cash, weekend stays, dinners for two, gift certificates from De Palm Tours and much more. For more information about the rules call Hadicurari Centro di Pesca at 586-0820 or 586-6610.
