All things coconut was the theme of ‘Coco Fest’, an afternoon-long festival of the coconut held in the grounds of the lovely Pedro St James tourist attraction, located on the twinkling blue coast in Savannah, Grand Cayman. It was a family fun day where everyone could make better acquaintance with this popular nut, with coconut dishes, cakes, breads, drinks and sweets and more for sale to enjoy, along with coconut oil, cosmetic products, soaps and body scrubs, all made from this versatile nut.

Music, movie screenings, a coconut shy, bouncy castle and even the chance to shoot cans with a ‘musket’ made from coconuts kept everyone entertained, young and old.

At the same time, Cayman’s Visual Arts Society held their annual art exhibition in their location at the Watler House also in the grounds of Pedro St James, adding to the fun. The Visual Arts Society (VAS) is a thriving group of local artists who all enjoy the creative arts, whether that’s painting, drawing, photography, batik or ceramics and the VAS is a great organisation which helps bring such creativity together. Their annual art exhibition is always a draw for residents and tourists alike, and this year showcased incredible talent.

Especially eye-catching was the artwork on display by students who attend St Ignatius School. All the students who participated are currently studying for art exams at a variety of levels and their talent was clearly on display at the VAS exhibition.
