TEAM ARUBA MET STRUGGLES AT SUMMER NATIONALS

MARTIN, Mi. – July 15, 2012:  The American Drag Racing League continued to be plagued by weather issues as they ventured north for the Summer Nationals at US 131 Motorsports Park. The off and on rain threw many teams for a loop and Team Aruba was no exception.

Extreme Pro Stock lost one qualifying run due to rain, but Team Aruba qualified a respectable 12th with a 4.120 at 175mph. As crews worked to battle the rain throughout the weekend, teams were also playing a guessing game against the weather. Unfortunately for Team Aruba, things did not play out in their favor as a dicey first round pass pushed Trevor Eman and the Aruba.com/Alltel Wireless Mustang across the center line, disqualifying their run.

“Indeed Martin wasn’t the greatest of weekends,” told Eman. “It almost seems as if we are never getting a break from weather or some other delay. Lately, we have always been losing one of the qualifying rounds due to weather and it’s that extra run that we always need for the additional data. Depending on that run, we get behind the eight ball and then struggle when eliminations come around.

“We know we had a good race car this weekend. Kaase did an excellent job on the motor. We had great speed during our runs and the Haas chassis was making consistently straight runs, but we missed the tune up when the track was at its hottest for the first round of eliminations and that cost us the win.

“Despite the tough conditions, US 131 and the ADRL did a great job this weekend. They battled the weather that hurt us on Friday and managed to still give us two sessions. On Saturday the rain came and went a couple of times, and the ADRL and track crews stuck with it to have the rain move out and dry the track to get the race completed. Our team thanks them for their hard work!

“We plan on doing some strenuous testing before the Charlotte race because we just can’t continue to do like we have been all year. We have great sponsors with Aruba.com and Alltel Wireless and we should be taking them to the winners circle, because we know we have the equipment to accomplish that and our sponsors and fans deserve to enjoy a winner’s circle with us.

“We can only look forward to Charlotte now and concentrate on making it happen there. We will be displaying the Aruba.com / Alltel Wireless sponsor XPS Mustang in Wadesboro and Rockingham, NC on Tuesday and Wednesday before the Charlotte race, so hopefully we can get all the Alltel Wireless fans to come join us at the display and then at the race as well. We can certainly use their encouraging cheers! In St. Louis we had a great deal of fans, friends and family cheering us on and we made it to the finals. So Alltel and Aruba fans, come out to Charlotte and cheer us on to victory!”
