The official Diamond Jubilee Weekend
from June 2nd to the 5th, marking 60 years since Queen Elizabeth II ascended to the British throne, would be a brilliant time to visit the Cayman Islands. Loyalty to the Queen is strong in Cayman which is a British Dependent Territory, and among the events planned to celebrate her reign is a flotilla of decorated boats in Hog Sty Bay on Saturday June 2 at 6 pm, followed by a spectacular fireworks display which will light up the night-sky at 11 pm. On Tuesday June 5, coinciding with World Environment Day, trees will be planted all around Grand Cayman as part of a project to plant 6 000 trees this year – one thousand for each decade of the Queen’s reign.
