Top 3 things to do in St John for water lovers
By Cathy O'Gara on 7th March, 2017
Whether you are above the waterline enjoying the views from a boat, or below it exploring life on the coral reefs, St John will not disappoint for a day out on the warm turquoise waters of the island. Here’s three of our favorite things to do in St John…
Snorkeling & Scuba Diving
There are over 25 dive sites and 40 snorkel spots located within a 15 minute boat ride from Great Cruz Bay in St John. Colorful fish, coral reefs teeming with life, sea turtles, Caribbean lobsters and rays are what you can expect to see when you venture out on snorkeling or scuba diving trip.
You can even get your Scuba Diver certification in just two days with the “Become a Diver” program or for the experienced Scuba Diver the British Virgin Island “Wreck Trek” is a must visit.
Snorkel trips depart daily and take you to the secluded cays and islets to explore the most pristine reefs. Most tours include snorkel gear and an open bar after snorkeling.
St John’s unique location in the heart of the Virgin Islands makes it the perfect launching point for exploration, “island hopping” is one of the most exciting activities you can take advantage of while you are here.
The Baths of Virgin Gorda are a must see, the natural beauty of the granite boulder formations is astounding, they create a virtual “playground” of caverns and pools to explore.
White Bay on Jost van Dyke is the silky stretch of sand that is home of the Soggy Dollar Bar, which has been voted #1 beach bar year after year by Travel & Leisure Magazine. A trip to Jost is not complete without a visit to the famous Foxy’s or Foxy’s Taboo – day trips include lunch at one of these iconic bar/restaurants.
