Planning a vacation to the tropical Caribbean island of St Lucia? The island is renowned for its stunning landscape, pillowy-soft stretches of sand and crystal-clear waters. All of the island’s beaches are beautiful, but to round it down we’ve selected our favorite beaches on St Lucia to visit. Jalousie (aka Sugar Beach)

Nestled right in the middle of the two mountainous landmarks, Jalousie beach offers greenery views and powdery white sand. Known as Sugar Beach, spend the day relaxing under palm trees, swimming in the warm blue waters, and snorkeling under the base of the Petit Piton mountain! Are you looking for some extra adventure? Jump off the 1800ft dropoff into the water. You will see a wide range of marine life underwater – from octopuses, eels, and tropical colorful fishes too.

Jalousie (aka Sugar Beach)

Creole lunch and a selection of delicious cocktails are available on the beach, so you don’t have to leave the area for lunch. Make sure to try the fresh fruit and coconut juice that you can purchase on the beach whilst you’re sunbathing. This tropical beach is definitely worth a visit.

Reduit Beach

Reduit is a well-known and popular beach amongst families in St Lucia. Located in the capital of Castries, you will be surrounded by beach shops, restaurants, and bars in Rodney Bay Village. Reduit is perfect for families as there are many fun and exciting water activities for the whole family to get involved in. You can try jet skiing, water skiing, and snorkeling all at one beach! 

Reduit has also opened the Caribbean’s first ever water sports park, Splash Island. Filled with inflatable slides, monkey bars, swings, and even climbing walls. The kids will love visiting Splash Island. There are many places you can rent snorkeling equipment to make sure you get in with all the fun action. 

After a day of swimming and sunbathing, head to one of the local family-friendly restaurants for a bite to eat or watch the sunset from a bar. Make sure to visit Spinnakers restaurant for fresh grill cuisine and signature cocktails for you to sip on beside the beachfront.

Marigot Bay Beach

Marigot Bay Beach is located on the western coast of the island. The beach holds panoramic views of the tropical seafront and white sandy beach. Whilst you sunbathe on the beach, you can indulge in a fresh coconut rum cocktail made from the coconuts that are collected from beach’s palm trees. 

Fun fact! Many films such as Dr. Doolittle and Power Fire were filmed here. Two of the most popular resorts are also located on the beach; the Marigot Bay Resort and Marina, and the Marigot Beach Club and Dive. Giving you a chance to see the beach right from your balcony! 

There are many hotels and restaurants along the beach for you to visit after a long day of snorkeling in the water. Visit the Pavilion Restaurant for a delicious Caribbean and American infusion meal by the beach. Don’t forget to get involved in snorkeling and scuba diving activities for a chance to check out the underwater marine life.

Anse Chastanet Beach

The darkest black sand beach on the island, Anse Chastanet shows you St Lucia’s volcanic views and history. You will be immersed in nature as the beach is lined with palm trees, green grass hills, and the sounds of birds chirping on the seafront. 

The reef is thriving with exotic marine life and the most vibrant corals you will see underwater. There are two reefs on either end of the beach which are home to more than 150 species of fish. Whilst snorkeling or scuba diving you will have a chance to see needlefish, sea turtles, sea horses, and trumpet fish. If you’re looking for an underwater adventure, Anse Chastanent Beach is the one to visit.

Grande Anse Beach

Surrounded by St Lucia’s mountainous eastern coast. Grand Anse Beach is a stunning beach granting a peaceful and relaxing environment that is set against a backdrop of cliffs. On your solo strolls or romantic walks, you will have a chance to see the endangered leatherback turtles, which are the largest of all sea turtles. 

As there are no facilities at this quiet beach, make sure to pack yourself a couple of cold drinks and a picnic. You will be able to sunbathe under the trees whilst listening to the waves of the water. Grand Anse Beach is perfect for fishing or a quiet relaxing walk in the evenings.

Sandy Beach

Sandy Beach is located on the southern coast of the island in the town of Vieux Fort. If you’re looking for a beach away from all the touristy hustle, then this is the perfect spot for you. You are able to sit back and relax on the grey sand whilst listening to the calming waves. If you’re wanting to explore the beach, visit the Lighthouse which is within walking distance, offering a beautiful view of the ocean.

Sandy Beach

The on-site beach snack bar offers cold drinks and quick lunches or you can visit the nearby restaurants to enjoy a traditional Caribbean meal with your family. If you’re looking to move away from the beaten path, Sandy Beach gives you a chance to relax amongst the trees and sand.
